Welcome to Kindergarten at VACDES
August 8, 2016
Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year! This is a special and exciting time for your child. Kindergarten is the foundation for your child’s future success in school. It is our goal to help each student meet his or her full potential. This is an exciting time for your child. This is also a time of mixed emotions for parents. The first day of school will mark one of the most important milestones in your child's life. We are so glad that we get to share that with you.
We will do our best to make this school year an enjoyable time for you and your child. It will also be a time for learning. The skills we practice daily in kindergarten are the building blocks for your child's future success in school and in life. Working together as a team, we can make this a wonderful year for our students.
If you ever have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact us at 540-665-6330.
What to Bring to School:
Your child will need to bring a bag or backpack to school every day to carry home papers/projects from school. Please check the contents of this backpack daily! Each child will be given a folder to keep any papers that we may have completed in school, as well as any important notes that come from the office or the teachers. This folder needs to be sent back to school every day.
We will be sending home book orders. The book orders often have great selections for reasonable prices. If you would like to purchase books please send it back to school with the payment by the date requested.
For your child’s safety and well being, please let the school know of any change in his/her schedule to go home. If your child goes to a babysitter, please let us know what days this occurs. If an older sibling walks home with your child, we also need to know this.
It is also very important for your child to wear tennis shoes on the day that he/she has physical education.
Your child will be given a lunch number. Please help him/her to memorize this number.
